Personal, Social and Health Education for Young People with Learning Disabilities
through music and song
Songs by musician and registered nurse
The songs you can hear on this website are designed to help a person with a learning disability learn about personal, social and health education and sexual health.
The songs are appropriate for a range of ages – each song has its age-relevance.

THE WASHING SONG has been written
to help people with a more severe
learning disability learn about the
importance of personal hygiene.
This song was originally written in
Welsh with the title ‘Can Molchi’
Lan’, which translates as ‘Washing
Clean Song’. You can hear the Welsh
version on this
website.
The long musical introduction (only played on the Welsh version, Can Molchi’ Lan in the samples on this page)
allows time to listen-in properly
and feel the rhythm before the
singing begins. The words and
phrases are short so that a person
who might not be able to grasp a
long or complicated sentence can
understand the meaning more easily.
Because of the word arrangement
it is easy to use sign language with
the song.
The tune is designed to be catchy
enough for people to learn and
enjoy it at the same time as listen.
