The songs you can hear on this website are designed to help a person with a learning disability learn about personal, social and health education and sexual health.
The songs are appropriate for a range of ages – each song has its age-relevance.

IT’S SO EMBARRASSING is about the
importance of attending a sexual
health clinic, especially if a person
suspects that they might have a
sexually transmitted infection. The
song, a duet between a person
complaining of symptoms and
another person giving advice, stresses
the importance of not leaving things
to chance and hoping the symptoms
will go away.
The issues raised in the song are:
• the availability of sexual health
clinics and the ease of access to the
service
• reassurance and motivation to go
and sort the problem out
• confidentiality, ie that a visit can
be straightforward and nobody need
know that the person has been
The lyrics are aimed at reassuring a
person while the music form is light
and positive. The song is aimed at
young people in general and could be
beneficial to everyone not just those
with a learning disability.
